Screws are a kind of fasteners. Many people think that those with threads are called screws. At least I thought so when I was not in contact with the screw industry. It is normal that I don't know much about this kind of hardware fasteners. But after several months of understanding, I found out that screws have other nicknames, and different nicknames represent different screws. 1. Bolt.

It can also be called a type of screw. It is a fastener composed of two parts: a head and a screw (usually a cylinder with external threads). It needs to be matched with a nut; as shown in the figure below, it is used for connection and fastening. Two parts with through holes. This type of connection is called bolt connection. If the nut is screwed out, the parts can be separated, which also belongs to the detachable connection fastener.

2. Stud: What is a stud?

The bolt has no head, only a type of fastener with external threads on both ends. When connecting, one end of it must be screwed into the part with internal threaded hole, and the other end must pass through the part with through hole. Then screw on the nut. Even if the two parts are firmly connected as a whole, the connection and fastening can also be disassembled. Mainly used for connected parts. Generally, the thickness is large, and the structure is required to be compact, or because of frequent disassembly, it is not suitable for the occasions where the bolt connection is adopted.

3. Screw

Screws, like bolts, are also screw fasteners composed of two parts: head and screw. According to their uses, they can be divided into three types: machine screws, set screws and special purpose screws. Machine screws are mainly used for a set thread. The part of the hole is generally fastened to a part with a through hole, without the use of a nut (this kind of connection is also called a screw connection, which is also a detachable connection first, and can be used in conjunction with a nut. Used for the fastening connection between two parts with through holes. The set screw is mainly used to fix the relative position between the two parts. The special purpose screw is only for the screws used in some special occasions, such as the ring screw .
